Al. St. Louis

Al St. Louis, was introduced to the Art of Spoken Word - a life changing experience! He fell in love with the art form immediately; particularly the stage and the power that both bring to the artist and the audience. Quickly realizing that Spoken Word is a medium through which positive change can be achieved, he set out to make that change by creating this organization, appropriately named When Words Are Spoken. St. Louis has performed his own brand of spiritually intense Spoken Words on many stages in Toronto, sharing the spotlight with various established artists. When Words Are Spoken was founded under the belief that “Spoken Word is the medium from which change will come.” And Al’s goal is to be one of the leaders advocating for this change, while providing a stage for other leaders to share their vision.

Lady Lydz is the pride of Grenada by way of Toronto, Canada. She is versatile and combines her R&B vocal ability beautifully with the Soca Rhythms! In 2005 she produced a mini album with Radford Ettiene of Sisum Sound in Toronto. There were two hit singles on that album Soca Queen and Shake a Leg; an upbeat melody that will make you dance. In 2006 she produced another mini album with Derrick Latouche of New York another fantastic album. With the success of her mini album she entered in to the Calypso arena in Grenada in 2005 and 2006 and as a new comer had great success.

In 2006 she qualified to enter the Soca Monarch Competition. She has now work with the Top Calypsonians & Soca artist from Grenada, Carriou & Petit Martinique; Ajamu, Inspector, Randy Isaac, Tall Pree, Boogie B & Mr. Killer the new Calypso Monarch of Grenada. In May 2007 Lady Lydz performed in the UK for the first time at Soca in the City she performed with Lil Rick, Tallpree and Clay. It was a successful performance as she gained many new fans.

Delee
*************

Delee started out on his musical journey in Grenada at the age of ten as a mouth organ player in a scratch band with a box bass, a scratcher, and a milk pan player. From this rudimentary beginning he moved on to Harmony Brass as a drummer/vocalist. By 1979 he had co-written the 1979 Grenada Road March song, ³Stand up Grenada². Two years later he joined the Grenada police Band where he expanded his repertoire of musical skills to include those of a second trumpeter.

With this background in place, Delee set out for Canada in 1986 to broaden his musical horizons, and played with the bands Import and the Relatives as a drummer/vocalist. Also he has performed with Baron, Calypso Rose, and Ajamu among other outstanding artists. He continued to hone his composition, arranging and engineering skills and built his first home recording studio.

After releasing three discs in the last five years, Delee is well on his way to accomplishing his vision that one day he will be a well known artist/producer of original high quality music which can be enjoyed all year round.

Levi “Super L” Loblack from Levitason

Levi Loblack, born in Roseau Dominica, and is the son of May Loblack & Emmanuel Christopher Loblack - Trade Unionist and founder of
Dominica’s Labor Party.

He is a singer, songwriter, producer, comedian, master of ceremonies, & actor, also known by the stage name “Super L.” His musical career began when as a young boy he was encouraged to sing and perform with Dominica’s Souffle Moutine Chorale.

Right after Hurricane David struck in 1979 Levi was chosen to tour the Caribbean with a group of artists under the name of Cassword in a collaborated effort to raise funds for Dominica during its recovery period.

He also toured to Grenada with the cultural group Black Awareness, along with the late Honourable Prime Minister Roosevelt Douglas as part of the Maurice Bishop Cultural Exchange Program.

In 1985 he became a Road March King with his hit song “The Body Slam”, and in 1988 his song “Good Citizens” was named song of the year. In that same year he won the prestigious title - Best Male Vocalist Of The Year at Dominica’s Fame Awards.

He was the first person to organize, with the Board of Education, the Junior Calypso & Junior Queen shows that were held amongst the various high schools. Another first, he recorded a live production with The Juradel Jing Ping Band, and was instrumental in the formation of Dominican music groups Black Roots International, Style, WCK & Jewels Combo. He has worked with many artists including Arrow, The Mighty Sparrow, Dominica’s RSB Band, and has also toured, recorded and performed with Dominica’s Lady of Song – Ophelia Marie.

After moving to Canada Levi’s goal remained the same - promoting Dominica’s culture. He performed with Toronto’s music group Instant Jam, who were highlighted weekly on the popular West Indian television program Bacchanal. Later on he formed his own group High Tension and his present band Levitasyon (formerly Levitation). Both bands have been instrumental in heightening awareness of Dominica’s musical heritage.

As the leader of the group LĂ©vitasyon he has guided the group to achieving numerous #1 songs, and 2 full length CDs. To date LĂ©vitasyon is the only French-Creole music group to have ever been nominated in the Canadian Urban Music Awards.
