Artist Profile: DK

America has many Hip Hop talents that represent for their cities, neighbourhoods and states. California has Snoop Dogg, St. Louis has Nelly, and Baltimore has DK. At the age of 17, Baltimore’s finest MC, landed a deal with Def Jam’s Carter Faculty, founded by none other than Jay Z. After the Carter Faculty’s failure to advance in the industry, DK left and signed with an independent label entitled Salem, which brought him front and centre stage at a Mixtape Power Summit event on the island of Puerto Rico. He made a huge impression on DJs across the globe at the summit, which prompted him to make connections and inevitably allowed him to continue to impress the industry through his lyrical skills, song writing capabilities and his music.

DK has hit airwaves with his Kanye West produced hit “If Not Me, Then Who?”, and his most recent track entitled “Italics”. Currently signed to record label Babygrande, DK has been on top of his game, capturing the “Pick of the Week” by MTV for his Mixtape entitled “King Me” produced by DJ Kay Slay and Shiest Bubz, which was also featured as the 8th street album in the 200th Commemorative issue of Source Magazine. He also appeared on Jim Jones’ presents the “Purple Album".

DK has opened up concerts for such stars as P.Diddy, Trey Songz, Mobb Deep, 3 6 Mafia, Ne-Yo and more. Currently, he is working on his next album in Los Angeles, sure to guarantee his mark in musical history as Baltimore’s finest MC.
