
Toronto,ON - June 30,2009 Fine Artist Ashley McKenzie-Barnes is displaying her first solo collection entitled "Portrait", at Insomnia Café. Ashley's summer has been extremely busy thus far, and will continue to be jammed pack with many achievements. In between her time as a graphic designer, designing incredible layouts for such magazines as Cream Magazine, Sway Magazine and most recently the 2009 Scotiabank Caribana Guide, and working on a massive art piece for Nuit Blanche, with Toronto-based artist collective SixAhWi, Ashley has continued to create fine art pieces to later showcase her talents to the world. The public can view Ashley McKenzie-Barne's collection entitled "Portrait", at Insomnia Café, starting from July 1st, 2009 to August 3rd, 2009. Insomnia Café is located at 563 Bloor Street West, at Bathurst.
As a renowned and successful young graphic designer in Toronto,with an impressive client list that ranges from media companies to celebrities. Ashley McKenzie-Barnes is a rising African-Canadian artist to look out for. Starting her career upon graduation from Humber College School of Media Arts in 2005. Ashley began to do various work in the graphic design field. Despite her success, Ashley also has a passion, and the creative ability to develop fine art, at the stroke of a brush. In 2006, Ashley produced a customized abstract self-portrait style, that spawned her first solo art collection showcase entitled “Portrait". The encouragement of her friends, family and peers allowed her to continue the pursue her passion further into the world of fine art.
